I was lucky enough to be picked as a pattern tester for a new pattern by Lisa of Big Little. I have never been a pattern tester before, even with all my crochet and knitting, I have never felt confident enough to volunteer. Let alone being a bit rusty on the sewing machine after a lot of knitting and crochet, I still can’t believe Lisa chose me as a tester. I have sewn dresses, pants, waist coats, ball gowns, etc , I can follow patterns and I’m probably of an intermediate level, be it like I said, rusty. But I just had to have a go at this stunning doll.
Lisa has created a beautiful detailed tutorial inspired from an old vintage doll pattern. She is named Fleur and she is just a delight.
I decided to base my doll on my daughter Emma, with blonde hair or yellow as Emma calls it and hazel colours for the eyes. I have never embroidered before but I was happily able to follow Lisa’s instructions and colour photos. I am so happy with how her features have turned out, I don’t think you can tell I’m a first timer. Her detailing is perfection from her little felt shoes, kimono style dress & knickers to her braided hair style inspired from Lisa’s late grandmother.
If you are a lover of cloth dolls like me, you will love Fleur. She is definitely a heirloom piece perfect for any little (or big) girl.
Emma has adopted her. Fleur now sleeps in her bed and has even come to hospital when Emma had her grommets operation recently.
As a special introductory offer you can get 15% off the pattern until Saturday 20th December 2014 with the code FLEUR15 at checkout here.
